Through the central significance of vocal function for the entire body,
research in ergonomics has received important inspirations and insights
relating to instrumental playing. Questions around the physiology of hearing,
organization of the human movement apparatus, and neurological equilibrium
of the specific nervous systems are a permanent part of professional
everyday life at our Institute and give rise to lively discussions with
performing musicians in shared chamber music projects and seminar events.
Past and current measurement series in collaboration with the Institute of
Ergonomics (Institut für Arbeitswissenschaft) at the University of Darmstadt
make valuable contributions to the finding of an identity, in the sense of a
new model of what a musician is. |
